Chris Allton visits Sycamore Class

Sycamore Class spent time working with Chris Allton, an author of many exciting children’s books.  We focused on ‘Be Kind Kids’, a book of quotes to guide us in our lives.  We spent time creating our own quotes and made our own booklet we can look at in the future.

Comic Book Illustrator

The children from Sycamore and Beech Classes worked with comic book illustrator Kev Sutherland to create their own comic strip.  They learned techniques around how to tell a story through illustrations, how to give depth to their drawings and how to depict the key information through drawings and speech bubbles.

Borwick Hall

Some more photos from Chestnut and Sycamore’s trip to Borwick Hall.

Pete’s Guitar Assembly

Before summer, Pete, our guitar teacher, put on an assembly to demonstrate the skills that his pupils have learnt this year. It was fantastic and we all had a good boogie! Pete will be offering guitar lessons in school again in the new academic year. Just ask at the school office for information such as prices etc.

Sponge the School Council

To raise money for the PTA we had a summer themed dress up day. As part of this the school council volunteered to be sponged. Great fun was had by all (except maybe the school council!).

The Lakes Trip – Sycamore Class

Sycamore Class had a wonderful day exploring Wray Castle and Brockholes including scavenger hunts, sketching, den building, laying on the adventure playground and we even got a private tour of Wray Castle itself.

Athletics Competition

Some members of Sycamore Class took part in the CSSCO Year 3 and 4 athletics competition at Arkholme School.  The children were fantastic, competing in a range of track and field events.  Overall, we came third and received a bronze medal!

Stone Age Flatbreads

As part of Sycamore class’s DT topic, we had the opportunity to make flatbreads, a meal people from the Stone Age enjoyed eating.  They were really simple to make, simply mix self-raising flour and Greek yoghurt together.  Then, we topped our flatbreads with a range of ‘Stone Age’ ingredients that would have been foraged by people at the time, including berries and vegetables.  We were able to practise a range of techniques, such as kneading, cutting and grating.  They were so tasty!

RE Dance Workshop

Sycamore Class welcomed Holly Wood from NISCU in to do a Christian themed dance workshop.

Mini First Aid- Sycamore
