Philosophy for Children (P4C)

We are a Sapere accredited P4C school and all of our staff have been trained in delivering P4C across the age range.  The principles behind P4C is exploring Big Questions and discussing and exploring different ideas, thought and opinions.  P4C sessions are very interactive and sometimes outdoors.  Through doing P4C the children gain a great deal: turn taking and listening to others, building on others’ opinions, challenging others’ opinions appropriately, being used to challenging things that we usually just accept, thinking about things more deeply and asking questions.  P4C benefits our children in their thinking skills, their confidence, their ability to formulate their ideas, their listening skills and their ability to be analytical.  As such, it helps their work in school and, more importantly, helps them to develop as an individual for life outside of school.
