Adventure Learning

We place a high value on learning outdoors and on experiencing outdoor adventurous learning. We have our own assault course and do orienteering in our grounds and we take the children out for other adventurous activities. We take the whole school to Borwick Hall each year for an adventure day of water sports, ropes courses, climbing, bushcraft and other activities. We take our Year 5 and 6 children to an outdoor adventurous centre, most recently to Arran, to experience even more adventure in a wild environment. We also frequently have a PTA walk along the coast and over hills locally and, in recent years, have taken children from Year 5 and 6 up Scafell Pike and over the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. We believe that these activities are an ideal way to develop our Planet Inspiration values: perseverance, cooperation, creative problem solving, risk taking and independence among others and we see our children really grow in confidence and resilience as a result.
