Beech Class D&T – Mechanisms

Beech Class have enjoyed designing and making moving Christmas toys in design and technology this half term.

Ancient Greek Buffet

Beech Class had a great end to our Ancient Greece topic by making tzatziki, Greek salad, honey cake and feta and spinach parcels. We loved our Greek buffet! We also did some Christmas activities and made melted snowman biscuits.

Beech Class Visit – Ancient Greece

Beech class spent the morning in the World Museum where they investigated lots of Ancient Greek artefacts. In the afternoon we went to the Walker Art Gallery where we learned about the Ancient Greeks through the stories in the paintings we investigated.

Stay and Play

We had a great time in Oak Class this morning welcoming some of our parents into our classroom. We took part in lots of activities like decorating biscuits and cakes, going on a present hunt outside, wrapping presents for the elf, making wreaths, finger painting fairy lights and defrosting some snowmen in our water tray. It was lovely to see them all and play together!

Leaf Clay Prints

Chestnut Class made leaf prints onto clay. They then used tools to make the markings clearer before painting their leaf tiles.

Crucial Crew

Year 6 children attended the Crucial Crew event at Alexandra Barracks. While there, they had sessions with United Utilities on water safety, NEST on support for young people, the school nursing team on health, youth services on opportunities for young people and the youth justice team on anti-social and social behaviour.  The children participated well in the sessions and learned some key messages to help them as they move to high school.

Football

Some Year 5 and 6 children took part in a football tournament at Morecambe Football Club.

Canopic Jars

Sycamore have created and painted clay canopic jars, linking our art to our learning in history.

PE – Circuits

Sycamore Class have been completing exercise circuits in PE, including learning how to safely warm up, stretch and cool down.

Lancaster Visit

Chestnut Class enjoyed a trip to Lancaster linked to their topic ‘Long Long Ago’.
They caught the train from Carnforth before visiting Lancaster Fire Station. After lunch they visited the City Museum and the Judge’s Lodgings.
