First week back in Oak Class

Oak Class have had a wonderful first week back at school. We have been busy doing so many things. We have played in puddles, practised our fine motor skills, learnt about 2D shapes, done lots of Phonics activities including a word hunt, collected leaves for leaf hedgehogs and then made the hedgehogs during Forest School, learnt the Rama and Sita story and so many other things. We also talked about Mrs Laycock’s trip to Iceland, looked at some of her photos and even held some real lava! We’ve had a wonderful week!

Acorn Collages

Oak Class created acorn autumn collages.

Pumpkin Collages

Oak Class created pumpkin collages using natural materials found in our grounds on a nature walk in forest schools.

Oak Class Portraits

Oak Class created their self-portraits using  printing using found objects.

Chestnut Class Portraits

Chestnut Class created collage backgrounds and placed their self-portrait image in relief on top.

Beech Class Portraits

Beech Class studied the portraits by Pablo Picasso and used these as inspiration for their own 3d card sculpture portraits.

Sycamore Class Portraits

Sycamore Class used their studies of Ancient Egypt and mummies to create their self-portraits.

Greek Pots

As part of their study of Ancient Greeks, Beech Class learned about Greek pots and depicted their own with paint and pen and ink ahead of making their own clay pots.

Ancient Greek Masks

In learning about the Ancient Greeks, Beech Class studied Greek theatre and learned about the masks that were worn by the players to convey tragedies and comedies. They used sculpture techniques with card to create their masks.

Beech Class’ Assembly

Beech Class fantastically showcased all the learning that they have done this term. Well done!
