Chestnut Class have had a wonderful time at Haverthwaite Railway today. The weather was fantastic and we really enjoyed everything! We went on the train to Lakeside and back again, had a picnic, played on the adventure playground and had a look around the engine room.
Sycamore Class have been researching countries in Europe. We have been looking at human and physical features in these countries and the foods that are produced there. We researched popular meals and snacks from different countries and recreated them using paper, card and other materials.
Chestnut Class have been designing and building their own trains and today they made a headband with their train on to show people what it looked like. They then did lots of talking with each other about what their train could do in preparation for a unit on persuasive writing next week.
Oak and Chestnut Classes had their first Forest School session together today. They had to create lots of different shapes using natural objects. They were fab, and the Year 1s and 2s did a great job of looking after the new children and showing them the right things to do. We had a fantastic time!
This week we have been preparing for a unit on Julia Donaldson’s, The Scarecrows’ Wedding. We explored the straw to see what it felt like and today we built our very own class scarecrow. Meet… Junior!
