Beech Class were in our garden doing observational drawings of our beautiful plants to inspire their water colour paintings.
Beech Class gardening club have been doing lots of gardening recently to try and get the garden looking lovely again and they have definitely succeeded! They did some weeding of our vegetable patches.
Sycamore Class boarded a flight to Sicily from Gate 15 on Friday to learn about the island before writing a Holiday Brochure in English this half term. We experienced a take off and a landing as well as a safety demonstration. We were ably assisted by 2 flight attendants and enjoyed inflight Italian food as we watched a presentation about Sicily.
Today in Forest School, Oak and Chestnut Class did a range of different activities. First they had to draw around each other in chalk and then decorate their outline. They then had to use ‘invisible paint’ to make their chalk pictures disappear. As a final activity they had to work as a team to transport as much water from the bucket to the tray as they could. Reds transported the most! Well done Reds, good team work!
Oak & Chestnut Class had a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine today building dens for Lego people. They used a range of natural objects and found some really clever ways of making sticks stand up and even gave the dens fancy things like ‘hot tubs’!
Sycamore Class have enjoyed researching different structures. They have then applied their knowledge to designing and making Egyptian pyramids. They now understand how to strengthen, stiffen and reinforce more complex structures.
In DT, Chestnut Class have been making bridges. They took lots of inspiration from different bridges around the world. They learnt about different ways to join the cardboard together. They learnt about the flange join and the L brace join. They had to think carefully about how they built it to make sure that it was stable and stayed up by itself.
Oak and Chestnut Class have had a wonderful day celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee before we break up for half term. Oak Class baked scones and Chestnut Class decorated biscuits and made sandwiches and both classes got together for a tea party. This was followed by a Forest School session where they made natural crowns. We hope everybody has a brilliant half term!
