Flat Earth or Spherical body?

In Science this week, we considered evidence to support ideas about the shape of the Earth.  We asked some really good questions and debated different ideas.

Cross country

Beech Class tried their best at the cross country competition and did very well, although some of us were exhausted by the end!

Textiles

This term in art the whole school has been focussing on textiles. Beech class have been practising their sewing skills and have been producing textile artwork based around sea and waves.

STEM Activity Day

We had a visit from Lancaster University and did a whole day of STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

First, we had lots of problem-solving to do, to get us thinking like engineers.  We learned just how it is possible to fit our whole group through one piece of A4 paper….at the same time!

We then thought about how engineers use problem solving in everyday life.  We found out about ways in which engineers have to work to help people in remote or cut off regions get supplies, especially following a bridge collapse, or extreme weather.  We worked in teams to design and build the best container to deliver food to cut off places.  We had lots of fun and learned lots about the work that engineers do.
